Where to go in Nashville During a Pandemic

As a Nashville native, Darcy Payne of the brand DARCY knows the secret spots that are “socially distanced friendly.”

Safe activities to do outdoors in Nashville during COVID-19:

  1. Visit the zoo - I will say that I did do this recently and there were a ton of people with the same idea. However, it is outside and if you are not more susceptible to the virus, it is a good option.

  2. Drive through Natchez Trace - sounds boring, right? But there are super cool stops along the way that are beautiful, like waterfalls and historic landmarks.

  3. DIY Celebrity Home Tour - yes, I know where they live! Once you’ve been here so long, you know where the stars live and say on a first name basis “this is Carrie’s home.” If you need help, reach out to DARCY.

  4. Scavenger hunt - we hosted one for Halloween and we don’t even have kids. People of all ages had fun with it. Get creative.

  5. Nature hike - obviously there are tons of state parks in Nashville. Shelby Park has been my favorite lately. It has secret dirt trails, frisbee golf and more!

  6. Play - seems simple. But some find it hard to do... sprinkler, color, try something fun instead of something busy.

  7. Drive in theatre - we’ve been hosting socially distant movies in our backyard! All it takes is a $20 projector, a sheet and boom. You’ve got a cinema!

Indoor activities to do during a pandemic in Nashville:

  1. Indoor picnic + shopping - my husband and I laid a blanket on the floor, ate pizza and brainstormed gift ideas for our friends! It was unique and out of routine.

  2. Remake a memory - my husband and I so recreated our honeymoon in Malta at home, considering we can’t travel. We went to the “beach” (lake with sand), made the same food and drinks. One of the best memories in a while!

  3. Learn something new - during this time, I’ve obtained a certification in programmatic OTT advertising, memorized pattern-making design to audition for Project Runway, and have been studying confidence/personal growth. I feel so empowered... not bored.

  4. Invest in plants - I’ve been taking care of my new cactus which is weird... because Tennessee ain’t the place for that kinda thang. But here we are. And it’s been fun! I got to adventure to a new cactus shop to find him. Little Bobby cactus boy. We also planted Mr. Peach for our anniversary (our new Georgia peach tree)!

  5. Bake

  6. Try a new hobby

I hope this helps, y’all. With more people moving to rural areas, Nashville proper (where I live) has been quiet. I want to help bring more life to this time. Reach out if you need help with ideas for fun, safe activities. I am creative in many ways. 😌
